Reg Day

Reg Day

Reg is a dedicated painter and motivated artist who spends most of his time at Grace Eyre painting in the art room. He often uses unconventional recycled materials and cardboard as his canvas. He’s an avid collector of miscellaneous objects that become part of his creative practice. Reg’s art showcases a varied colour palette with sensitive tonal qualities, and he is known for mixing his colours directly on the surface. He most commonly paints with acrylic. He is not limited to two-dimensional form, as he will paint structural pieces and sometimes paint on both sides of the paper or, in Reg’s case, cardboard. His distinctive way of drawing faces can be seen throughout his work, but he is also keen on painting airplanes and cars. As a viewer of Reg’s work, you can interpret the many forms he creates in various ways.

Reg said this about his art:

“Making art is all right. I make a lot of art. I like drawing and painting. I like drawing planes, houses, faces and people.”

What is Reg’s favourite thing to paint?

“I like drawing and painting spitfires.”

How does art make Reg feel?

“Painting makes me feel all right. All right. Happy and relaxed.”

Where does Reg make art?

“I do more artwork at Grace Eyre than anywhere else. Yeah, it is good to have the space. I used to do art at another place. I didn’t like it there. It was too bossy.”
