Reg often paints on recycled materials, improvising with whatever is available to him for painting. In this piece, Reg focuses on one of his preferred subjects, Spitfires, presented on brown cardboard. The use of a lighter wash of paint allows the natural brown hue of the cardboard to subtly show through, creating a warmer and lighter feel. This work also showcases one of Reg’s unique styles as an artist – painting on both sides of the cardboard, with a smiling face surprising you on the other side.
