Mario Antoon

Mario Antoon

Mario has a delicate and refined approach to mark making, with a focus on figurative representation. He has engaged in various projects where he studies the works of other artists to inform his own artistic process. Utilising his keen observational skills, Mario produces artwork that reflects both his individual style and influences from his studies. His work often features nature, painting and drawing animals and plants. Mario concentrates his art practice on two dimensional forms and has a keen interest in print making, drawing, and painting. He often makes studies of anatomy focusing on particular facial features in his sketches. This was a focus in 2020 to improve his drawing techniques.

Mario has said this about his art:

“I like the drawing because I like to draw some people for example portraits, object, or landscape. I like draw using pencils, coloured pencils sometimes. I like using charcoal. I like drawing some animals: cats, dogs, lion, and tiger. I like drawing some fish swimming in the sea. I saw some sharks in the movies.”

How does art make Mario feel?

“Happy, relaxed, calm”

What art has Mario made before?

“I used to use charcoal, take a pencil, wrap in tape, rub it to make a nice shape, then colour it in. I did that somewhere else. Draw on the object using the charcoal, it’s very messy.

The hands in gold, did it in our building. Did hands and cut them out.”
