Elliott Duffield

Elliott Duffield

Elliott’s work has a distinctive style which can be seen throughout, focusing on painting and drawing.

When painting he uses acrylic to create large blocks of colour, carefully considering his layout and returning to change parts to reflect new ideas and thoughts. His drawings are equally recognisable, creating those large blocks of colour with pen and pencil marks.

His composition, colours, and themes remain consistent whether using paint, pen, or pencil. His work often features repeating letters, spelling out elongated versions of his name or the names of the subjects. ‘MMMMRRRRREEEEELLLLLIIIIIOOOOOOTTTTTTTDDDDDDUUUUFFFFFIIIEEEELLLDDDD’ can be seen across most of his work.

The main themes he explores are his love of jazz music, Shakespeare, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Spiderman. Elliot depicts the characters of the television programmes he enjoys, as well as the actors who play them.
